Love these Petoskey Stone heart earrings on sterling silver interchangeable lever backs! They don't get much better than this ~ with a Swarovski copper bicone adding a little sparkle and a tiny piece of genuine turquoise with another piece of Petoskey stone! Hmmm.....maybe I should keep these! ;)
Earrings hang just apprx. 1 1/4"
PETOSKEY STONE FAQ: This interesting stone is a variety of Calcite that was formed by the fossilization of ancient coral, Hexagonaria (having 6 sides), that lived 350 million years ago when the northern part of Michigan was covered in warm sea water. The coral lived in shallow waters and today’s fossil often includes ancient silt and mud. Petoskey Stones are found on many beaches of Lake Michigan and Lake Huron ~ all the way from Traverse City to Alpena. In 1965 the State of Michigan adopted the Petoskey stone as Michigan's state stone
TURQUOISE STONE FAQS: Turquoise comes in an array of blues ranging from sky blue to bluish green. The name means "Turkish stone". Turquoise is porous, so contact with liquids, oils or even excessive perspiration should be avoided. Jewelry made with turquoise should be removed before washing hands, showering, etc. The pure blue color is rare, most stones contain the matrix from which it was found. Although the stones without matrix are rarer and more valuable, many people find the black matrix attractive, and makes the stone unique.
Turquoise is the most efficient of all healing stones, providing solace for the spirit and well-being for the body. It is a protective, purification, strengthening and balancing stone. It is said to repel negative energy. Turquoise is an excellent stone for exhaustion, depression, or panic attacks.
