What is a Chakra?

Chakra is a Sanskrit word which means, "wheel”. The human body is said to have hundreds of concentrated and focused energy centers. There are seven major chakras (energy centers) stacked in a column that spans from the base of the spine to the top of the head.  Each chakra is similar to a wheel that is a spinning area of energy. These chakras are where we receive, transmit and process energy. This is very similar to the nervous system which receives and transmits information.  They are associated with our physical, mental and emotional interactions.  The goal is to keep the charkas cleansed, balanced and open for optimal well-being.  Using stones and crystals is one way to achieve this goal.  Wearing jewelry made with specific stones, for specific needs, may help achieve your goal.

The seven major chakras are connected to specific areas of our consciousness. They also have their own distinctive function and characteristic.
